ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ARISTECH IGP MSDS
Aristech Acrysteel IGP Sheet is a high-gloss, hard-surfaced sheet used in many outdoor applications. MA has the same superior physical properties, including impact resistance, but has a one-sided matte (non-glare) finish for applications where a "flat" look is desired.

Aristech Acry'steel IGP and MA Sheets offer these advantages:

They are engineered thermoplastics that combine preferred physical properties with advanced qualily and performance.

They have the same product characteristics and formabiliiy that Aristech General Purpose Acrylic (GPA) has.. .with the added advantage of greater impact resistance.

They are available in custom and standard sheet sizes, and on continuous reels...in a wide range of pigmented colors.

They have proven color technology without special surface protection. no UV barrier coatings, and no blue-tint hiding agents are used in our process.

Impact Resistance.

Aristech Acrysteel Sheet has been engineered to have additional impact strength in order to minimize sheet breakage during fabrication, shipment, field installation and end-use. This helps reduce costly sign face replacements. The drop-ball impact strength of unformed Aristech Acrysteel Sheet is five to six times greater than regular acrylic sheet.

Weather Resistance

Aristech Acry'steel Sheet has shown excellent resistance to outdoor weathering. Several years of laboratory and outside field exposure testing, as well as actual case histories, indicate that Acrysteel Sheet has exceptional non-yellowing characteriSlics while retaining its impact strength. Extended exposure tests in Arizona and Florida show that Acrysteel Sheet retains most of its original impact resistance after four years of exposure in a humid environment. And Acrysteel Sheet has also maintained its good looks for a longer period of time than other sign materials, making it a long-term, quality investment.

Advantages of Continuous Cast Aristech Acrysteel Sheet.

Surface Hardness

Aristech Acrysteel Sheet has greater abrasion resistance than extruded impact sheet products such as polycarbonate or DR. Acrysteel Sheet's higher barcol hardness provides more resistance to abrasion caused by airborne dirt and dust particles, important in inner city and seaside environments.

  Polycarbonate DR® Acrysteel® GPA
Barcol hardness 20 25 40 48

Stiffness

Acrysteel Sheet, with its high flexural modulus, is stiffer than DR making it less likely to bow or pull out of the retaining frame.

psi Polycarbonate DR® Acrysteel® GPA
Flex strength 13,500 10.500 13,500 15,000
Flex modulus 340,000 286,000 380,000 450,000

Resistance to Distortion

The higher heat distortion temperature (HDT) of Acrysteel Sheet offers better resistance to sheet
sagging during exposure to hot environments.

Advantages of Aristech Acrysfeel Sheet for the sign manufacturer.

1.Thermoforming
Aristech Acrysteel Sheet has a wide thermoforming temperature range (350°F to 390°F), thus providing the flexibility necessary to form difficult parts with good detail at high temperature; or to form at faster production rates at lower temperatures. Acrysteel Sheet can also be reheated and reformed in the event of production problems; this is a real cost savings over polycarbonate and other sign materials which cannot be reheated and reformed. Acrysteel Sheet does not require pre-drying before thermoforming, which also saves time and money.

2. Shrinkage
Acrysteel Sheet has less unrestrained shrinkage than polycarbonate or DR after thermoforming. It also has more uniform dimensional stability like Aristech GPA. Thus, silk screening is easier to control and yields less variation from batch to batch. Acrysteel Sheet can be heated in sheet hanging ovens and free formed without excessive draping or shrinkage

3. Fabrication
Aristech Acrysteel Sheet can be fabricated using the same techniques as our GPA including gang cuffing, hot bending, flame polishing and cold bending. Other advantages include Acrysteel Sheet's ability to be cleaned, paintec and cemented.
