What's the best way to clean acrylic?
Great question - and at A&C, we want our customers to know how to care for plastic as much as we do. So here's a little free advice from us on cleaning your acrylic sheets:
• Use a mild dish or hand soap, clean water and a soft cotton cloth.
• Do not use commercial cleaners with ammonia, chlorine, etc.
• Do not use powdered cleaners.
• When possible, wash dust and debris with a flood of water before gently wiping the surface of the acrylic.
• Do not use paper towels or "shop" cloths.
• When buffing out scratches from an acrylic surface, use only industry-approved polish. We can supply you with the plastic polish and/or cleaners you need. Ask about it here.
• If there is a scratch you can feel, it will not buff out.
• For cleaning grease and oily residue that did not come off with mild soap and water, use a small amount of aliphatic naphtha or kerosene on a clean cotton cloth and gently wipe. All aromatic paint thinners will burn the surface of the acrylic.
