General Properties
Tuffak polycarbonate sheet
offers an unmatched combination and balance of properties
which includes: outstanding strength, transparency, light
weight, flexibility, heat resistance, flame retar- dancy,
durability and safety.
Tuffak sheet is as transparent as glass, half its weight and
250 times more resistant to impact. It is virtually unbreakable.
It also ofter good sound reduction properties and better thermal
insulation than glass. Polycarbonate is the only material
able to combine toughness with transparency.
Shaping
Tuffak can be thermoformed and hot bent. Within certain limits,
it can also be cold bent, or curved. Its toughness allows
the easy use of all fabrication processes such as cutting,
sawing, drilling and turning. It can be bonded to itself or
to other materials with adhesives, screws, nuts, bolts, rivets,
spring clips and other fastening devices. In many cases, Tuffak
polycarbonate sheet can be used in very thin gauges, its mechanical
properties being sufficient.

Tuffak offers the solution to many
problems, where other trans- parent materials are unsuitable
Its extraordinary impact resistance allows its use for safety
glazing in high-risk areas where glass would not survive long
or could even, in certain cases, be considered hazardous such
as:
- institutional buildings like jails,
hospitals and schools, .
- recreational areas and sport facilities
such as swimming pools or ice skating rinks,
- police, defence and other security
areas,
- industrial sites and workshops,
- public access buildings, social housing,
- lightweight cars,
- special vehicles for leisure.
Tuffak lightweight, cold bending
ability and flame retardancy allows its use in many architectural
applications like roofs, domes or canopies. In most of these
applications, curved glass would regarded as too heavy, too
expensive or unsafe. Fabricated Tuffak sheet can also be used
as protective visor or screen, machine guards, signs, or whenever
high impact strength is needed.
10 Years Warranty
Tuffak XL sheets are guaranteed
for 10 years against:
- loss of light transmission: max.
6 %;
- yellowing (only on clear sheets):
max. 10 of yellowness index;
- loss of impact properly:min. impact
strength level Al according to DIN 52290, Pad.4.
The guarantee will only apply if
the sheets are transformed, installed and maintained according
to manufacturers recommendations. The guarantee is total on
the first five years and limited (graduated) for the remaining
period.
